Important Points Information
Must have 15 points by deadline:
o April 17, 2020 – Seniors
o May 20, 2020 – Underclassmen (Juniors, Sophomores, & Freshmen)
❖ Each hour = 1 point
❖ Maximum Donation points = 2: Fall Semester – 1; Spring Semester – 1
o Donation Points are NOT required, but allowed on this limited basis.
o 1 point = $10 o 1 point = one large bag for donation to a charity in Pickens County.
o 1 point = 10 cans/dry goods to a shelter
o You can also earn a point for helping to fundraise for another club
▪ selling fruit for the band
▪ discount cards for the football team
▪ other fundraising opportunities with prior approval
❖ Inside & Outside Activity Points: Should be earned as outlined below.
o 5 Inside Activities/10 Outside Activities OR o 10 Inside Activities/5 Outside Activities)
▪ Inside Activity Points take place on school grounds. They may include school help like tutoring, Special Olympics, White Christmas and other quarterly club projects, teacher help, etc.
▪ Outside Activity Points are earned for events that take place off school grounds, & PRIOR APPROVAL IS REQUIRED. They may include volunteering at the animal shelter, thrift store or library, the STAR student Banquet, help at Fall School Carnivals, etc. Opportunities for these will be posted on Remind. This does NOT cover working for your church youth group or children’s ministry, etc.
▪ Donation Points will fall into one of the above mentioned categories (Inside or Outside) for the purpose of calculating the 15 required IA/OA points
❖ Maximum Points per Activity = 3: No more than 3 points may be earned for any one project in a single day. This does not mean you should simply leave after 3 hours... always finish the job. You may return to a project on another day and do the same service for additional hours.
❖ Meeting Attendance is REQUIRED. Quarterly meetings will take place on the following dates: 10/15/2019, 12/17/2019, 03/17/2020, & 05/12/2020 & will be from 2:45-3:15. You are expected to attend as a part of your responsibilities as a club member.
Absences will be addressed as follows: o 1 = Warning o 2 = Probation o 3 = Dismissal.
